Chopra fined for negative Tweet

7 January 2014, 14:01

Blackpool forward Michael Chopra has been fined by the club for posting a derogatory Tweet about the fact only six players turned up for a club training session. The poorly thought out Tweet, which was quickly deleted, has cost the striker over £10,000 and seen him warned about his future online conduct.

F****** joke this come in training only 6 f****** players here then find out the fitness coach taken the football session #joke.

Blackpool FC were very quick to issue a statement condemning Chopra’s actions, before stating that they will be giving the money from his fine to the club’s Community Trust. All credit to the club for turning the issue around and putting a positive spin on it, particularly as they addressed and solved the situation in less than three hours.
