Southampton become first BPL club to join Snapchat
Snapchat – the temporary photo-sharing service launched in 2011 – has just snapped up (sorry) its first Premier League club. Southampton FC announced late this afternoon that they’d launched their profile, and encouraged fans to join them.
The club are promising “behind-the-scenes photos and messages to our supporters”, as well as teasing “a few interesting projects”. We imagine this doesn’t include photos of intimate parts of first team players.
The Premier League take-up comes hot on the heels of Snapchat raising $50m (£30m) from a hedge fund, and shortly after Instagram launched a rival service named Instagram Direct.
