Google Glass finds its way into the dugout

Athletico Madrid are not only leading the way in La Liga, they’re leading the way in the tech stakes too.

During Los Colchoneros victory at Getafe on Sunday evening coach Muno Burgos was spotted sat on the sidelines sporting the headset.

Burgos was able to wear Google Glass after an agreement was reached between Mediapro, the Catholic University of Murcia and the LFP to trial the hardware. He was utilising an app called Mediacoach, which not only gave him access to stats from prior matches but which was also collecting and displaying data from that night’s match in real time.

As part of the agreement more La Liga clubs are expected to try out Google Glass in the coming weeks, placing the Spanish game firmly at the top of the tech table. We look forward to seeing other clubs from other leagues follow suit.
