Carter kicks off Priceless Mastercard sponsorship stunt

Carter kicks off Priceless Mastercard sponsorship stunt

We love a good PR stunt here at The Online Rule, and is doesn’t get much better in rugby than a stunt involving kick a ball over what is described as London’s “biggest set of rugby posts”.

The posts in question are none other than Tower Bridge, and the All Blacks’ Dan Carter is the lucky representative chosen to launch a branded ball into the River Thames (spoiler: Tower Bridge is quite big, and it’d probably be impossible to actually get a ball over them from the river). It’s all in aid of Mastercard’s sponsorship of next year’s Rugby World Cup which will be jointly hosted by England and Wales next year.

As part of the agreement Carter also helped record a behind-the-scenes video in which he crowbars in as many mentions of the word ‘priceless’ as humanly possible in two minutes. Still, it all makes for a pretty impressive set of photos which were picked up by several national news outlets – which, ultimately, is the mark of a successful stunt.
