"F*** WiFi, support the team" - PSV Eindhoven fans protest during match
Angry PSV Eindhoven fans launched a protest against their own club at a recent home game, believing that recent changes at the Philips Stadion are ruining the atmosphere.
The focus of the protests has been the introduction of WiFi at the ground to give fans better access to data on their mobile phones. Supporters in the most vocal area of the ground – the T and U sections – held up a banner reading “Fuck WiFi, support the team” during PSV’s 6-1 victory over NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.
According to the Guardian, fans of the club believe attempts are being made to gentrify the crowd by having stewards stop supporters standing persistently in areas where they have traditionally been allowed to remain on their feet.
