Juventus become third Italian club to join Snapchat

Snapchat’s take-up in Italy has continued this week, with reigning champions Juventus signing up and posting their first story.

The club have joined in the build-up to their Champions League game against Bayern Munich. Their opponents have been on the network since the start of the current season, but social media competition in Italy is sparse with only Inter Milan and Roma on Snapchat at the moment.

The account went live on 22 February with their first – quite lengthy – story. The story started with a welcome to all of the club’s followers, before showing clips of players training, footage from the managers’ press conferences, shots of both club mascots racing each other, before closing with a shot of their home stadium at night.

It’s a great introduction to the new channel from the club. Not only did they offer some behind the scenes footage, the tone of the content (calling Bayern “our guests”) and playfulness of the mascots shows both clubs in a great light. Overlaying clips from the press conference with quotes from managers and players is a brilliant touch too.
