adidas help Chelsea launch new strip

It’s pretty hard to be particularly innovative when designing home shirts for football clubs, especially when clubs such as Chelsea have the very basic requirement of ‘lots of blue’. Hence why you get the feeling most of the money has been spent on this lavish video narrated by Jose Mourinho.

It features first team players Petr Cech, Fernando Torres, Gary Cahill, Oscar and Eden Hazard recreating poses from some of their most memorable performances in a Chelsea shirt. The players are cast into sculptures, before breaking free and providing us with a brief glimpse of the new top which, surprisingly, is overwhelmingly blue.

The new campaign is called Forever Blue, and you can watch the video below.

Getting the players involved is an easy bit of publicity for the club and their sponsors, and adidas do deserve a bit of kudos for managing to make something which would be easily publicised with a press releases into an interesting video. This is described as a “campaign”, so expect there to be a bit more publicity around the Forever Blue theme over the coming weeks and months. Seems adidas are going to be doing all out to make sure the new kit launch stands out.
