Everton to host virtual 'Lockdown Sessions' concert

Everton have launched their first ever virtual concert as part of their outreach campaign to support vulnerable members of the community.

The Lockdown Sessions are being held to support the club’s Blue Family initiative. It’s part of a concentrated campaign to maintain contact with fans and provide support and assistance to those who need it during the coronavirus pandemic.

Circa Waves’ Kieran Shudall, Tommy O’Dell from DMA’S, and the Wombats have all recorded tracks for the event, which will be broadcast for free on the club’s Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube channels on Friday 22 May at 8pm.

Players from Everton’s first team and women’s team will be making appearances between the sets. Fans will be able to donate to the campaign while the broadcast is happening.

The club have created a Spotify playlist featuring songs from all the bands who have recorded tracks for the evening.

Scott McLeod, Everton’s Head of Engagement and Communications, said: “Football and music go hand-in-hand in bringing people together, and with not being able to attend matches or gigs, we hope that our virtual sessions will help bring the two passions together for a good cause.”

“We’d like to thank all of the artists performing in aid of our Blue Family campaign, which has continued to make a significant and positive impact on our region.

“We hope that the artists get that buzz of performing and our supporters and wider music fans will be able to enjoy the sessions safely at home.

“This is a free event and throughout the evening we’ll be reminding people of the importance of our Blue Family campaign, the impact it continues to have, and giving viewers the chance to donate to the vital work being done by Everton and Everton in the Community.”

Since launching the campaign eight weeks ago, 4,000 vulnerable people and families have benefited from support.
