Liverpool giving fans the chance to be their number 5

Liverpool are celebrating hitting the 5 million follower milestone on Twitter this week by giving one lucky fan the chance to become the club’s new number five for a Premier League game.

Although the club point out the winner can’t be listed on the team sheet (for obvious reasons), they’ll still get to see a shirt personalised with their Twitter handle hanging in the Anfield dressing room.

All fans have to do to enter is tweet why they deserve the prize using the #1in5million hashtag, while also ensuring they follow the club’s official @LFC account.

The winner will get to attend the game with a friend with all travel and accommodation paid for, get a free programme, and get to hear their name announced over the tannoy.

Matthew Baxter, chief media officer at LFC, said:

Our fans are incredible. Wherever they are around the world, they are passionate, loyal and full of pride. We want to thank them for their support with the opportunity to win an extraordinary, money-can’t-buy prize.

We have found that social media brings our Liverpool family closer together – wherever people are in the world, they can chat about the club that is a major part of their lives. By using Twitter for a competition like this we give fans, wherever they live, a chance to share their passion for their club and potentially win the prize of a lifetime.

The competition was announced on the club’s official website – where you can find the full terms and conditions – as well as with this brief video on Twitter.

Liverpool are the fourth most followed Premier League club on Twitter, behind Arsenal, Man Utd, and Chelsea.
